Public Speaking (and Expert Public Speaking Coaching)

As well as building up over many years significant expertise in expert speech-writing (see Speech-Writing) Charles Crawford is an accomplished public speaker himself, with wide experience in speaking at functions public and private, large and small (including extended passages in Serbian and Polish) in the United Kingdom and abroad.  

His speeches and set-piece contributions have been praised as original, clear, thought-provoking and memorable, and often quoted in the media.

Examples of his official speeches on various foreign policy themes include:

• Bosnians, Europeans (to an audience of Bosniac intellectuals in Sarajevo, many critical of UK policy, in 1998)
• The Frontiers of Diplomacy (to an invited audience of Serbian opinion-formers in 2003, after the assassination of Serbian Prime minister Zoran Djindjic)
• The Limits of Diplomacy (trenchant extempore address at a senior private seminar examining the successes and failures of international policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, delivered in Stockholm in 2003)
• Mars, Venus and Extremism (a longer presentation on EU/US mutual foreign policy stereotypes, delivered in Stuttgart in 2004)
